#98 of all the lives and all the dreams
On a hot, clear Saturday noon just after Rayleigh got back from lunch, he walked slowly to the smoking area. He lit up his cigerette as soon he sat on one of the few cement stools. He felt full, so full he wished he'd be in his bed but he had to stay at his work. Eight to five on Saturday.
What a curse.
He took a puff, turned his head up, and blew the smoke above him and away it went. He could see the sunlight penetrated through the in-between leaves of a shady mango tree that he sit under. Blue sky with a pattern of white clouds that would only happen once in a while. And the breeze moved the leaves, producing a continuous rustling sounds. In a distant, motor noises.
Just as the leaves were moved by the breeze, he was moved by the moment.
Promptly, closed his eyes. He fell into a fantasy.
Of all the lives he had wished would become true and all the dreams he prayed for every night. He imagined that he was really by the beach and the motor noises that remotely disturbed him were coming from a fishing boat, coming home from the vast sea.
Then a harsh, loud engine sound snap him back into reality. A shiny tanker passing by slowly and the engine revving so hard it seems like it might overheat anytime soon.
A heavy load that was.
He shook his head. Knowing that he won't escape from this miserable life he had not seen it coming. As so he decided,
"maybe it's time for me to say good bye to all the lives I had been wishing for. And to bury all the dreams I had been praying for.".
